Viana Do Castelo

When I think of Viana do Castelo, what comes to mind is the amazing Sanctuary of the Sacred Heart of Jesus also known as Mount of Santa Luzia

I remember visiting this awsome town on a super, super hot day.
We went up the mountain to see the church and then once down we sat down in a restaurant on a main road near the train station.
This is where we tried for the very first time the one, the only , the glorious “SOMERSBY.

There is nothing in this world better than a cold somerby on a summer day .
It is absolutely delicious and its been part of our repertoire of drinks for our family ever since.
Viana do Castelo is the big town for us in case we want to get out of our little vila and do something fun without going to far to Porto or to traffic crazy in Braga.

There is a decent mall (here I come Zara!) with movie teathers and a couple of great restaurants and bars. The beaches are very close altough I must confess I am not a big fan of them here in the north of Portugal,
Unfortunately, when is about the beach I am litle spoiled coming from Florida.
There is no way this ones can compare with the ones over there in America specially when it comes to the temperature.
OMG are this waters c ld!!!!! and the wnd!!! you can barely talk because the sand will get inside your mouth ))
Anyways….now that Im talking about Viana do Castelo, I can not end this post without mentioning the Fashion & Dress Museum or in Portugues “Museo do Traje”. We went there just because we were done visiting all the main atractions and unexpectedly we ended having a wonderful time.
bye for now.
