Our Love Story with Portugal
Long and for you my dear reader, maybe a boring post:
As a result of the confinment due to the pandemic we did few things that proved to be very benefitial for us in the near future without even realizing.
FirstI I ordered online a trampolin and started to do exercising and being more concious abouth health and nutrition and so on and so forth.
As a result, I started watching videos trying to find recipes more according to our new way of living and exercising.
That is how we came to start fasting and a bunch other practices to keep ourselves sane during that craz time.
Also, not sure why exactly but the algorithm in YouTube decided to show some videos about a family of 4 that moved from the States to Portugal.
I do not have an explanations as to how/why I started watching their channel but the fact is that thanks to them I came across to IDEALISTA which is the same as the MLS in the Estates.
OMG, that was crazy !
When I think about those days!! I opened the website just for the heck of it and started to look with some scepticism at properties in places that we knew nothing about but the prices were so ridiculously low and the houses were huge and so pretty with that gorgeous portuguese tile!
Next thing and we are in a plane traveling to Portugal!
We landed in beautiful Lisbon where we rented a car and started our vacations without knowing that this trip would change our lifes substantially.
From cascais to Sintra with the amazing Pena Palace, to the Algarve area with amazing beaches and unforgetable views.
We were traveling Anthony Bourdain’s style without reservations.
When we were tired we would look for a place to stay the night and keep treaveling the day after.
I find this style very relaxing, just playing by ear with no agenda. Just eyes open to wonder.
After visiting Faro, Portimao and Albufeira we left to keep our route along the SilverCoast on our way to the North.
To my mind come the bones chapel in Evora, and Obidos with its incredible views and the delicious ginjinha
aLso Nazare, Caldas de Rainha and Figueira da Foz.
Portugal is such a nice country to travel, The highways are so vast and the towns super accesibles.
In total our trip lasted 63 days. Aorund the 40th day we arrived in Viana do Castelo, a wonderful city in the north region of Portugal and from there we headed to Ponde de Lima.
The story involving our new home town deserves another long post so
bye for now
